About Us
We are not a professional department with a distant presence — we are the people who live, shop, and pray in the same communities we protect. Dodd Mountain VFD was founded on a simple conviction: that neighbors should look out for one another, especially when seconds count.
Our station at 3403 Luber Road serves as both our home and our call point. When the alarm sounds, we respond — from structure fires and vehicle accidents to search-and-rescue and natural disaster support. Between calls, we invest in training, equipment maintenance, and outreach programs that keep Mountain View safe.
What We Do
From emergency calls to prevention programs, we cover the full spectrum of fire and rescue needs for our community.
Structure fires, brush fires, and vehicle fires — our trained volunteers respond swiftly to contain and extinguish fires across Baxter and Stone counties.
Our volunteers include certified EMTs who provide first response medical care, bridging the gap until advanced ambulances arrive on scene.
Lost hikers, flood rescues, and natural disaster support — we coordinate with county and state agencies to locate and extract those in danger.
We visit schools, host community fire drills, and offer home safety inspections. Prevention is the first line of defense, and we take it seriously.
From open-house events to seasonal safety campaigns, we believe an informed community is a safer community — and we're always glad to connect.
When neighboring departments need backup, we respond. Mutual aid is a cornerstone of rural fire service, and we answer the call.
Our Community
The Ozark mountains are beautiful, but they come with real risks: steep terrain, seasonal wildfires, flash flooding, and long emergency response distances. That's exactly why our department exists. Every volunteer drives in from nearby towns and farms, leaving their own lives behind when the alarm sounds. That kind of commitment doesn't happen by accident — it happens because people care about this place, and about each other.
We host community events throughout the year, including fire truck demonstrations for kids, smoke alarm installation drives, and annual safety workshops. If you'd like to get involved or simply learn more, we'd love to see you.
